The NCDC Port Moresby Vipers are set for the 2018 Digicel Cup after trial games with the Hela Wigmen and Gulf Isau.
Viper’s coach Joe Sipa said the team’s preparation is on track and they are ready to start the season on a high note.
“We have named our squad for the Digicel Cup and I want to congratulate the boys who are going to wear the Vipers jersey in the 2018 season,” said
Vipers chairman Lulu Ted said all the 40 men enlisted have shown their commitment, time and effort in the last two months of preparations.
“Unfortunately only 25 men have been named to make the team for this season. They were selected by team officials based on assessments on and off the field,” said Mr Ted.
He said the Vipers are committed to maintaining a high level of discipline throughout the season including attendance, commitment, following simple instructions and time management.
“Because Vipers is the city team and the team represents all 22 provinces we decided to have representatives from each of the provinces,” he added
Vipers Team Manager Paul Komboi said selection was also based on discipline, performance, fitness and medical grounds – aiming for a fit and injury-free team.
“With a fit, healthy and disciplined team we will start and end the season on a high note. That’s the objective,” said Komboi.
Lulu Ted told the players that NCDC would continue as the major sponsor with support from NCD Governor Powes Parkop.
